Houston, TX-based USON, an innovator in automated leak detection equipment for the automotive, industrial, medical device and packaging industries, has revealed two changes to its senior management.
First the company announced the appointment of an award-winning veteran of the automated instrumentation industry, Charles D. Foran Jr. (Dave), as USON president.
USON then followed that up with Foran himself revealing the promotion of Gene Grilli to the role of global sales director.
Foran brings more than 35 years of experience in leading diverse organizations and a proven track record of executive leadership. He said of his new role, “I am extremely pleased with the opportunity to help USON, the market leader in leak detection instruments, go to the next level.”
“USON will soon celebrate 50 years in business and my goal is to enable USON to leverage the power of the Internet to set a whole new standard in how USON reaches out to the marketplace and to our customers.”
“There are few individuals in the industry with the experience and range of market experiences that Gene possesses”

One of the first developments under Foran’s name then followed, as the new president announced the promotion of Grilli to the role of global sales director.
Originally hired by USON in 1994 after his accomplished eight-plus year tenure as a nuclear submarine missile technician for the US Navy, Gene Grilli has served USON in numerous capacities since. This has now culminated in his promotion to global sales director and Foran described the ‘extraordinary value’ that Grilli adds to the USON team.
“There are few individuals in the industry with the experience and range of market experiences that Gene possesses,” he commented. “His rise through the ranks is a reflection of that expertise and his steadfast determination to always find the best leak detection solution for each customer.”
Specialty Gas Report understands that Grilli, who has lived in Fraser, MI with his wife of 21 years and their four children, will be relocating to Houston, TX with his family and will supervise global sales from the USON headquarters.
USON first developed high accuracy leak testing methods for NASA and since 1963 has been at the forefront, of leak detection, leak testing, and non-destructive testing.
