President Engineering Group (PEGL) is celebrating winning the prestigious Made in Sheffield ‘SME Award’ at a ceremony held at Cutler’s Hall in Sheffield, UK on 10th April.
PEGL, parent company of Bestobell Valves, faced stiff competition from many high profile manufacturers to win the ‘highly acclaimed title’ and was also shortlisted in the Innovation Award and Exporter of the Year Awards.
PEGL demonstrated how its Bestobell and Conflow businesses had grown through innovation and because of its reputation for craftsmanship and high quality manufacture, which has led to the company generating 88% of its business internationally.
Mark Henley, Managing Director of President Engineering Group, reflected, “It is a real honour to win this award and will help us to further reinforce the position of our business on an international scale. The awards ceremony was a great night and it was fantastic to be chosen amongst so many exceptional businesses for this title.”
PEGL demonstrated how it is growing its business by appointing its first agents in Russia and Japan and capitalising on the growth of LNG as a marine fuel.
Despite the decline in some of its markets, such as mining, PEGL showed how it has continued to grow and expand and in 2012 acquired a further business in Bretby Gammatech, which has enabled it to cross-sell its dust and fire suppression product to new markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Columbia.
PEGL was established in 2010 itself, through a management buyout from the Flow Group involving the Conflow and Bestobell Valves businesses. These were purchased by a Sheffield-based management team consisting of Mark Henley (Managing Director), Marie Cooper (Financial Director) & John Waddington (Operations Director)
Bestobell Valves is an internationally renowned manufacturer and distributor of cryogenic valves for use in the industrial gas and LNG industries.
