Praxair, Inc., through its subsidiary Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Industrial Gases Company (SCIPIG), has recently been awarded a 15-year industrial gas supply contract from Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Co., Ltd (SECCO).

The agreement will see SCIPIG supply large volumes of pure oxygen to SECCO for its sulfuric acid regeneration unit.

The pure oxygen will increase the capacity of the unit, significantly reduce its emissions, and improve its overall production efficiency.

SCIPIG will construct a new air separation unit (ASU), with a capacity of 900 tons per day of oxygen, as well as an integrated liquefier. The ASU is expected to start-up in 2015.

SCIPIG is a joint venture between Praxair, Inc. and Air Liquide and ranks as one of the largest industrial gas production bases in China and Asia. With SECCO located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP), the agreement further strengthens SCPIG’s supply capability and presence in this area.

Dr. Minda Ho, President of Praxair China and Chairman of SCIPIG, commented, “SCIPIG has developed and grown significantly since its founding in 2001 and this agreement is the latest example of the company’s success and strong customer relationships.”

“We are pleased to be building this new ASU for SECCO, enabling SCIPIG to continue to offer high-quality products and services to this and other customers in SCIP.”

In addition to constructing a new ASU and integrated liquefier, SCPIG will extend its pipeline network in the chemical industry park and expanding its ability to meet the new industrial gas requirements of SECCO and other customers in the SCIP as a whole.
