Leading industrial and medical gases company Nippon Gases has been recognised for its ‘outstanding’ safety and environmental performance after winning four awards across different sectors during the European Industrial Gases Association’s (EIGA) Annual General Meeting.

Representing many industrial gases companies in Europe, EIGA aims to promote safety within the use of industrial, medical, and food gases.

At this year’s event, held earlier this month (June) in Valencia, Spain, Nippon Gases was granted the following awards:

 - EIGA Category 1 Safety Award 2021: Focusing on recordable work injury reports, this win marks the 16th time in 19 years that Nippon Gases has granted the award.

 - EIGA Environmental Award 2021: Awarded to Nippon Gases Netherlands for the carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery project in the dry ice plant of Dordrecht.

 - EIGA Safety Innovation Award 2021: Granted to Nippon Gases Italy for its Remote Safety Observation System, the award recognises best health and safety practices around contractors.

 - EIGA Peter Jackson Award 2021: Focusing again on safety, the award recognised Nippon Gases Norge as the best improving company in the last five years

The ceremony took place during the 2022 EIGA Summer Session, an event which brings together senior management of its members to discuss statutes, budgets, and strategies for the association.

Last September, Nippon Gases was placed in the top 5% of industrial gas companies for its sustainability rating after being awarded a gold medal by sustainability rating agency EvoVadis.
