Time's running out to nominate for this year's WorkSafe Awards which close 11 May.

The executive director of Australian based WorkSafe Victoria, John Merritt said the awards recognised employers and workers who were going $quot;above and beyond$quot; in terms of workplace health and safety.

$quot;We want to recognise those who aren't just doing a good job, but those who are doing a great job. We want their example to encourage good operators and those who are trying to do even better,$quot; he explains.

$quot;We know that most health and safety costs nothing. It's about working together, involving everyone in the workplace, thinking about the known and potential problems and putting together plans to manage known and potential safety risks.$quot;

Award categories include health and safety representative of the year, health and safety committee of the year, best health and safety initiative for a small business, best strategies for health and safety management and outstanding leadership and contribution to health and safety, amongst others.
