Airgas, one of the largest US suppliers of specialty gases and equipment, today announced that it will present two information sessions and offer a sneak peek into a new resource manual intended for users of gas chromatographs.

Titled The Chromatographer’s Guide to Gas and Gas Delivery Systems, the guide will be revealed at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (PITTCON) at McCormick Place in Chicago, held from the 3rd to the 6th of March 2014.

“Our customers are always striving to optimise their results and find efficiencies where possible, including streamlining their gas usage,” explained Bill Russo, Airgas’ Vice President - Specialty Gases. “The Airgas information sessions, as well as the new guide we will be previewing, are excellent resources for improving processes and obtaining consistency and quality across the board.”

On Tuesday the 4th of March 4 at 8.30am, Frank Kandl, Product Manager - Airgas Specialty Gas Equipment, and Reginald Bartram, Gas Chromatography Consultant for Airgas, will present “Optimising Performance with Consistent Results in Gas Chromatography.” On Wednesday the 5th of March at 3.05pm, Bartram will present “Optimising and Improving Carrier Gas Systems Enables You to Reduce Your Gas Usage.”

“These sessions provide valuable insight and solutions that can help gas users achieve consistent performance while also conserving resources, particularly helium,” said Kandl. “By optimising processes, users can benefit from significant cost savings.”

Airgas specialty gas experts will also provide a sneak peek at Airgas’ new gas manual, The Chromatographer’s Guide to Gas and Gas Delivery Systems. The newly developed resource guide provides detailed information on the requirements needed to design and construct the gas delivery systems used in gas chromatography (GC) and other high purity analytical applications.

The guide provides in-depth expertise in selecting the correct gas purity, understanding how purity is determined, and how purity affects applications. It also explains how proper component selection can ensure process accuracy, extend component life, and create necessary consistencies. Additionally, the guide details laboratory gas safety codes needed for compliance, and offers an extensive reference section on the safe handling of gases, including an at-a-glance troubleshooting section that sets forth performance issues, gas stream contaminants, and possible causes and corrective actions.
