Praxair, Inc. announced today that it has acquired Lake Welding Supply Company, Inc. (Lake), one of the largest independent gas and welding products distributors in western Michigan.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Lake, with 2013 annual sales of more than $20m, is a long-time distributor of Praxair gases. Formed in 1953, the company’s headquarters and primary cylinder filling plant are located in Muskegon, Michigan, with additional retail stores in Holland, Ferrysburg and Manistee.
“Praxair has been an outstanding business partner for many years,” said Tom Lesneski, president of Lake Welding. “The entire Lake Welding team is excited to offer Praxair’s complete line of offerings to our valued customers.”

Praxair, Inc. announced today that it has acquired two independent distributors of packaged gas and welding supplies – United Welding Supplies, (United) in Texas and Best Welders Supply, (Best) in Oklahoma, with combined 2013 annual sales of about $30m.
Praxair, Inc. has confirmed the start-up of the first of two 1,250 metric tons per day air separation units at Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) Bhilai, India facility. The plant is also Praxair’s first large project in the state of Chhattisgarh and central India.
Houston, Texas, based Thigpen Energy has selected Chart for the provision of LNG fueling equipment and supplies – with construction already underway. Earlier this week it was announced that the company’s eastern European outfit, Chart Ferox, was chosen to construct LNG filling station in Poland.
