Praxair Inc. declared recently that its Praxair (China) Investment Co. unit will be the exclusive supplier of oxygen to three wastewater treatment plants that will supply the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Terms of the award weren't disclosed and while a number of parties may have been in the running for such a contract, clearly the US giant was the front-runner for the deal.

Praxair provides a wide range of gases for metal fabrication, chemicals, refining, food and health care industries and Beijing Praxair Inc, an affiliate of Praxair China, signed the oxygen supply contract with the Beijing Drainage Group Co. Ltd to supply oxygen to the plants located in the Qinghe, Beixiaohe, and Jiuxianqiao sections of Beijing.

Beijing's municipal government built three wastewater re-use plants, in which wastewater is treated through filtration, carbon adsorption and other processes.
