The US coal mining industry is reported to be experiencing the ‘enormous benefit’ of nitrogen generator units, according to On Site Gas Systems.
The industry is thought to be turning to the use of nitrogen generators, specifically to fight against underground fires or prevent such incidents in the first place.
On Site Gas Systems (OSGS Inc.) manufactures a range of nitrogen generators and oxygen generators, which are suitable for use in a wide range of industries and applications. The company was recently chosen by the US’ National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to develop a high volume, high purity nitrogen generator, for underground coal mine use to inert behind coal mine shaft seals.
The initiative is in support of The Mine Safety and Health Administration’s (MSHA) recently strengthened regulations in the US, regarding the sealing and inerting of unused underground mines.
