The Association of Independent Welding Distrbutors (AIWD) has announced that Pete Ullman has joined the organisation as its new Executive Director.
Ullman is already well-known to AIWD group members as the Vice-President of Techniweld USA – an approved AIWD vendor and leading wholesaler of recognised brand names for the welding industry sold exclusively through welding distributors.
A press release stated that Ullman’s industry reputation and strong positive experience in working with distributors made him the “perfect candidate” for the job.
“We know that Pete will work tirelessly with us to help our group, both members and vendors alike, continue to grow and prosper,” it added.
gasworld spoke exclusively to Pete Ullman about his new role.
Congratulations on your new role! How is it going so far?
I’m working hard to get up to speed, understanding the immediate priorities and getting acquainted with members and vendors.
What do you aim to achieve in this role as AIWD’s new Executive Director?
I aim to establish continuous value improvement for both members and vendors. This involves securing ongoing increases in financial returns and services to the members, corresponding revenue increases to vendors, and the building of strong member/vendor relationships. This will also serve as the vehicle for attracting new members and further establishing the Independent Welding Distributor as the heart and soul of the welding industry.
What will this mean for the market/ the organisation?
This will be the vehicle for attracting new members to AIWD and to further establishing the Independent Welding Distributor as the most important and efficient delivery channel for technology and service to the users of welding products.
Ullman’s term was effective as of 1st January, 2017.
The AIWD, established in 1999, is a buying group comprising of around 145 independent business owners and over 100 vendors within the welding and compressed gas industries.
The AIWD aims to leverage the combined purchasing power of core products and assets within the industrial gas, welding supply distributors and CO2 beverage carbonation service sectors, in order to offer favourable pricing, terms and patronage rebates to a select group of vendors.
