Plug Power Inc. has secured yet another contract to deploy its GenDrive fuel cell units – its third this month alone.
The company’s latest deal is with Newark Farmers Market. Plug Power has received an order for a further 96 of its fuel cell units in order to operate its electric industrial forklift fleet in Newark, New Jersey.
Newark Farmers Market has utilised GenDrive systems as the sole power source for its electric industrial truck fleet since 2011. Today, it operates more than 240 GenDrive units, making it the largest fuel cell-powered electric industrial truck fleet in New Jersey.
Increased operational efficiency, coupled with improved safety and sustainability impacts, made it easy to reinvest in Plug Power’s H2 and fuel cell solutions
Earlier this year, Plug Power also delivered a turnkey system to Newark Farmers Market’s new food distribution centre, adding 110 new GenDrive fuel cells and a GenFuel hydrogen (H2) fuelling system.
David Forem, CEO of Newark Farmers Market, stated, “Using a GenDrive-powered lift truck fleet has allowed us to increase productivity and continue to grow our operations in New Jersey. Increased operational efficiency, coupled with improved safety and sustainability impacts, made it easy to reinvest in Plug Power’s H2 and fuel cell solutions as we cement our leadership position in the market.”
Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power, enthused, “This is a success story for Plug Power, as nothing validates our solution better than a satisfied customer who reinvests in our business-enhancing solutions.”
The US-based business also secured deals with French-based businesses FM Logisitics and Carrefour earlier this month. Financial details of the agreements were not disclosed.
