Poland is believed to have joined the ever-growing list of countries to import Qatar’s LNG, after signing a framework agreement with the Qatargas Operating Company recently.

Respected news agency Reuters has reported that the Polish gas monopoly, PGNiG, will be provided with approximately 1 million tonnes of LNG annually by Qatargas - to be transported to the country via tankers.

Another country looking to sources other than Russia for its gas supplies, Poland joins Bulgaria among others keen to secure its energy future.

Bulgarian leaders were recently reported to have met the Emir of Qatar to discuss the possible construction of an LNG terminal in the country.
