Praxair appoints new VP & Controller

Praxair Inc. has named Elizabeth T Hirsch Vice President and Controller of the global corporation, effective immediately.
Hirsch takes the role having formerly sat as Vice President of Investor Relations. She will be succeeded in this role by Kelcey E Hoyt as Director of Investor Relations. Over the last year, Hoyt has served as controller of the eastern division of Praxair’s North American Industrial Gases (NAIG) business unit.
Meanwhile, Hirsch has succeeded Mark J Murphy as VP and Controller for the firm. Previous incumbent, Mark J Murphy, vacated the role to become Chief Financial Officer at MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc.
Praxair’s Chief Financial Officer, James Sawyer responded buoyantly to the news. He said, “With her strong financial background and extensive knowledge of Praxair’s global businesses, Liz will continue to make a major contribution to Praxair’s financial strength and growth.”
Hirsch benefits from over 15 years of experience with Praxair, and began her career with the firm back in 1995 when she joined as Director of Corporate Finance. Prior to this, Hirsch enjoyed a further 15 years of experience in corporate banking.
