Praxair elects ‘global’ perspective to Board

Praxair, Inc, the largest industrial gas company in North and South America, yesterday announced a new appointment to the Board. Oscar de Paula Bernardes, former Chief Executive Officer of Bunge International, Ltda., has been elected to the Praxair Board of Directors with immediate effect.
Bunge International, a company with headquarters in White Plains, New York, is a global corporation synonymous with agribusiness and food.
In a press statement, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Praxair, Steve Angel, stated, “We are pleased to add Oscar to our board with his wide-ranging executive and board experience. In particular, Oscar is a global citizen whom we expect to provide valuable advice and counsel as we increase our presence in emerging markets.”
Since his role at Bunge International, Bernades has enjoyed service as a managing partner of the consulting firm, Integra Assessoria em Negόcios Ltda. Prior to this he worked as Senior Vice President and Managing Partner for Latin America with Booz Allen and Hamilton, Inc. In addition he benefits from experience as Operations Director in Brazil for Ferro Corporation, as well as a science degree in chemical engineering from the Federal University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
