Praxair enters supply agreement with Bridgelux

Praxair Electronics, an affiliate of Praxair, Inc., has entered into a LED design and manufacturing contract with Bridgelux, Inc.

Bridgelux, a specialist in LED lighting technologies, will receive ammonia and high-purity hydrogen at its manufacturing centre in Livermore, California. Ammonia and hydrogen are key to the expansion of gallium nitride crystals, which are used in the semiconducting portion of LED-based light sources.
Mike Peanasky, Vice President of Manufacturing at Bridgelux, said, “Praxair has been an important partner in the expansion of Bridgelux’s manufacturing operations. As Bridgelux continues to drive product performance and technical innovation in solid-state lighting, the high-quality Praxair products are instrumental to those efforts.”

Praxair is supplying the Bridgelux plant using its SureFlow™ technology, as well as company patented heat-control design. Bridgelux opted for Praxair’s 10 metric ton ISO container, due to its higher level of safety than liquid draw systems of ammonia delivery. This bulk system offers sustained delivery of ammonia at a flow rate of over 2,000 litres per minute, and a peak flow capacity of over 3,000 litres per minute. Praxair’s system also features equipment monitoring to ensure reliable process control.

Mark Murphy, President of Praxair Electronics, remarked, “Repeat selection by Bridgelux of our high-purity ammonia and gas delivery technologies, and Bridgelux’s adoption of our high-purity hydrogen system, underscores Praxair’s position as a premier supplier to the LED and electronics market.”
