Praxair, Inc. is the only industrial gas company to be named to the DiversityInc 2017 list of Noteworthy Companies for Diversity.

This is the second consecutive year that Praxair has been recognised by DiversityInc for its initiatives that focus on diversity and inclusion.

The distinction is awarded to companies that have demonstrated continued momentum in diversity and inclusion practices after being reviewed in target areas such as talent development, leadership accountability and supplier diversity.

The US-based corporation was also ranked second on the DiversityInc list of Top Companies for Progress, a list that recognises those companies that excel in providing equitable opportunity for all employees in geographies and industries.

Commitment

Praxair Chief Diversity Officer Vanessa Abrahams-John said that the recognition underscores the company’s “commitment to diversity and inclusion” and the “sustainability of our diversity initiatives across our global enterprise.”

“[We] will continue to listen to and collaborate with our employees in order to foster an inclusive and engaging culture that drives innovation and business success,” she added.

Praxair’s current initiatives centre on unconscious bias training for its managers, employee-run resource groups that provide support, mentoring programmes and scholarship support for students of diverse backgrounds who are studying engineering or other science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.

Praxair was also recently recognised by the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) with a perfect score of 100%. It was also designated as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
