Praxair sells US homecare business

Apria Healthcare, Inc has agreed to purchase Praxair, Inc’s US homecare business. Agreement terms remain undisclosed and the transaction is expected to close during the first quarter of 2011, subject to satisfaction of customary terms and conditions.
Praxair’s US homecare business operates from across 85 branch locations across 27 states and employs approximately 1,100 people.

Scott Telesz, Senior Vice President for Praxair, remarked, “Given Apria’s broader and deeper capabilities in the US homecare market, we believe Praxair’s U.S. customers will be well served by this acquisition.”

Apria has welcomed the decision, Norman C Payson, Managing Director, Chairman and CEO for the firm, commented, “We are looking forward to welcoming Praxair’s patients, employees and customers to Apria’s home respiratory service division and expanding our branch footprint to serve customers nationwide.”

Praxair plans to continue to supply the homecare market in other countries, and also will continue to expand its very successful institutional healthcare business worldwide.
