Praxair will present at the Iron & Steel Technology (AISTech) Conference and Exhibition next week.

The Tier One company will feature 3D visualization of steel making processes developed by the Steel Manufacturing Simulation and Visualization Consortium (SMSVC), launched by the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) at Purdue University Northwest. Praxair will also feature the OPTIFIRETM fluidic burner and other Praxair technologies related to steel production.

The AISTech event is being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from May 7th to 10th, 2018. Praxair will be exhibiting at booth # 2149.

Megha Jampani and Michael Riley of Praxair’s Research and Development team, along with CIVS and Purdue University Northwest, will present the technical paper titled, “Examination of Injected Fuel Combustion in a Generic Blast Furnace Test Rig” on Monday May 7th at 2:00 PM in Room 201C. They will discuss the computational and experimental modeling approach to examine a generic blast furnace injection region under various operating conditions.

Megha Jampani will also present the technical paper titled, “Fluidic CoJet® Injector” on Monday, May 7 at 2:30 PM in Room 114. This paper shares the development of Praxair’s new Fluidic CoJet Injector, which combines capabilities of the CoJet and the OPTIFIRE Fluidic Burner by providing an extra-efficient burner with flame deflection for enhanced scrap melting with the trusted coherent jet for refining.

Hamzah Alshawarghi and Allen Chan of Praxair’s Research and Development team will present the technical paper titled, “The AOD Process: 50 Years of History and Technology” on Tuesday May 8th at 4:00 PM in Room 203A. They will discuss how the commercialization of the argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) process revolutionized stainless steel making.
