Praxair, Inc. will be delivering two technical presentations and hosting a hospitality event at the 79th Conference on Glass Problems at the Greater Columbus Convention Centre in Columbus, Ohio.

The event will run from the 5th to 8th November 2018, with technical sessions open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The hospitality suites are open Monday from 5:00 PM until 11:00 PM, and Tuesday from 7:30 PM until 11:00 PM.

At 3:30PM, on Tuesday 6th November, Gaurav Kulkarni, Praxair’s Development Specialist, Combustion R&D, will present a technical paper titled, ‘Staged, Oxy-Fuel Wide Flame Burner to Mitigate Refractory Port Fouling and Foaming in Glass Furnaces.’ The paper will describe the key features of Praxair’s OPTIFIRETM Wide Flame Burner Gen III and discuss related enhancements and novel configurations developed to address operational issues of staged burners in oxy-fuel furnaces.

Dr. Stefan Laux, Praxair’s Director of Research & Development and Frank Schuurmans, Libbey Royal Leerdam Furnace Engineer, will present a technical paper titled, ‘Operating Experience with the OPTIMELT™ Heat Recovery Technology on a Tableware Glass Furnace,’ at 2:00PM on Wednesday 7th November. A summary of the operational experience, performance and glass quality results from the first year of Praxair’s OPTIMELT™ regenerative Thermo-Chemical Regenerator (TCR) system compared to the results of the conventional oxy-fuel furnace without the TCR will be presented.

Praxair continues to be a leader in the development and implementation of a wide range of oxy-fuel technologies for the glass industry, with state-of-the-art oxygen (O2) supply systems, oxy-fuel burners and heat recovery technology. These include the OPTIFLO2TM VPSA System for O2 supply, OPTIFIRETM Wide Flame Burner Gen III and the OPTIFIRETM XD Burner. Praxair technologies can help meet process challenges by delivering substantial fuel savings, increasing productivity and reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
