Progress in science and analysis – Gulf Coast Conference 2013

0

Reflecting the industry’s developments and progress in chemical analysis, the Gulf Coast Conference 2013 was held on October 15 & 16 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas. The Gulf Coast Conference is a non-profit organization oriented toward the education and advancement of knowledge of chemical analysis technology associated with the petrochemical, refining, and environmental fields. The event aims to forward this goal through its annual technical meetings, regular communications, and training courses focused on these fields.

New and improved methods, techniques, and processes in chemical analysis were again on the agenda at this year’s show, with a raft of technical presentations, abstracts and both poster sessions and workshops.

Presentations included topics such as An Optical Multiplexed Tunable Filter Spectrometer: real-time alternative to Gas Chromatography (Duane Sword, Precisive, LLC), Analysis of Various Elements in Petroleum Samples (Michael C. Pohl – HORIBA Instruments, Inc.), the Application of High Retentive Porous Polymers in Miniaturized Systems for Analysis of Gases in Seconds (Jaap de Zeeuw, and Bill Bromps – Restek Corporation), and the Considerations for Choosing a Different Carrier Gas in Gas Chromatography (Jaap de Zeeuw – Restek Corporation).
