Tokyo Rare Gas’ filling plant in Japan recently went into official operation.
The plant, located in Negishi, Kanagawa Prefecture offers two filling lines for neon with ten cylinders each; one krypton line for five cylinders; one xenon line for two cylinders; and two lines with one cylinder each for mixed gas. In total, the plant has an annual filling capacity of 30,000kl.
Seiichi Yasui, President of the company, said, “For the Japanese rare gas market, it is very important to have an arrangement whereby raw materials can be procured overseas in a stable manner… In this sense, the base will become a central one and make its contribution to the market.”
The facility has enough space to receive two ISO containers and substantial room for filling storage, in addition to a specific analysis room. The neon compression line uses a reciprocal compressor which benefits from being cheaper and more efficient than the conventional diaphragm method.
Furthermore the plant houses all variations of chromatographers, mass spectrometers, oxygen meters and dew point meters; which serve to heighten analysis capabilities. Quality is secured since analysis equipment may be calibrated and backed-up by Tokyo Gas Chemicals Yokohama Gas Factory instruments.
