Record-breaking adventurer Brian Jones will take to the stage at the British Compressed Gases Association’s (BCGA’s) 2017 Annual Conference as the keynote speaker.

The pioneering English balloonist made headlines in 1999 when he completed the first non-stop, around-the-world voyage in the Breitling Orbiter 3 balloon powered purely by hot air and helium (He).

In his chief presentation at the UK membership body’s conference, Jones, who completed the 20-day mission alongside Swiss Bertrand Piccard, will relive his journey for the delegates, highlighting the technologies and forces that made it possible.

Doug Thornton, CEO of the organisation, enthused, “The calibre and expertise of speakers signed up for the 2017 conference reflects the scope and scale of our industry and its proactive, innovative and collaborative approach.”

“The conference goes from strength to strength each year and the programme in place for 2017 provides the platform for continued success.”

The BCGA’s 2017 Annual Conference will take place at the Marriott Hotel in Manchester, UK, on 6th April next year. The event will cover the latest in specialty gases, cryogenics and fuel cell vehicles, as well as details of key changes and important achievements within the BCGA over a 12-month period.
