Chart has announced, with great sadness, the passing of friend and colleague Dag Nordby in his native Oslo, following a short illness.
Nordby was a hugely popular and influential figure, both at Chart and within the wider gas community, and will be sorely missed by many.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Nordby was an engineer by trade, but a salesman to his core. He was employed by MVE at the time they were acquired by Chart and quickly become a key member of the team with international postings across the US and Europe, particularly at Chart Ferox in the Czech Republic.
Officially, Nordby retired twice, but of course, he never really did. He was often heard humming or whistling his favourite tune, ‘My Way’ and it’s ironic that he probably enjoyed as many ‘comebacks’ as ‘Old Blue Eyes’ himself.
The image above was taken just last year at an industry event and perfectly captures the joy, spirit and essence of Nordby. We offer our condolences to his family and friends and, as further testament to him, we’d like to share the family’s request, from their eulogy, with you.
“Please help us celebrate Dag’s life by simply talking with a stranger, singing a tune, being happy and living life to the fullest.”
Dag Nordby; we salute you.
