Russia's state gas agency Gazprom will look at extracting helium from Eastern Siberia says Deputy Management Committee Chairman Valery Golubev.

Speaking at the 4th Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum on the Industrial Basis of Russia's Development Mr Golubev said the state was interested in extracting and using all existing valuable resources, helium in particular. There are significant deposits of the gas in the Siberian reaches of Russia, an area the state is looking to develop and other companies have already tapped.

Plans were also announced at the conference to see the construction of several gas processing facilities in the Siberian territories based on state-of-the-art gas production and processing technologies.
