Safety first: 10 workplace areas in need of extra attention

For producers and distributors of industrial gases and welding hardgoods, safety in the production, handling, storage, and delivery of the products and services they provide is the number one priority. The industrial gas industry has long prided itself an being particularly stringent where safety practices are concerned.

One way of ensuring its buildings, equipment, and labor practices are as safe as possible is by paying close attention to rules and programs set forth by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Each year, OSHA announces its top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety violations. For fiscal year 2017, Patrick Kapust, deputy director of OSHA’s Directorate of Enforcement Programs, presented this list at the world’s largest annual gathering of safety professionals, the 2017 National Safety Council (NSC) Congress and Expo. Founded in 1913 and chartered by Congress, NSC advances safety by partnering with businesses, government agencies, and elected officials to work toward eliminating preventable deaths at work, home, and on the road through leadership, research, education, and advocacy.
