GAWDA’s 2017 annual convention commenced this morning at the New York Marriott Marquis, with a confirmed total attendance of 926 people – an all-time record.
Yesterday, attendees spent four-hours at the GAWDA booth programme, where supplier members displayed their product and service offerings while networking with attending distributor members.
The closing general business session began with the announcement of the CGA & GAWDA Safety Awards and the Excellence in Welding Awards. Acknowledgements were also made to the 2017 GAWDA volunteers, inclusive of current President Mark Raimy who was thanked for his continued commitment to the organisation.
Renowned football coach, Lou Holtz
The sessions first speaker, Lou Holtz, a renowned fixture in the college football coaching landscape for more than three decades, was warmly welcomed to the stage to give a motivational speech. He said, “you’ve got two mandates – satisfy the customer and make a profit,” “Don’t complicate life.”
