Welding, cutting, joining, coating and allied processes - everything at the global fair \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot; at Messe Essen on September 12 ﷓ 17, 2005 will revolve around these key technologies as well as around quality assurance and structural adhesive bonding. The expert world is awaiting with excitement the sector's most important event anywhere in the world. More than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the globe will show their innovations to around 70,000 visitors expected from more than 90 nations. \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot; is the world's leading platform for the dialogue between experts. And, at the same time, an outstanding ordering market on which a large number of business deals are closed.

Numerous exhibitors have enlarged their booth areas compared with the last \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot;. In 17 modern fair halls, the exhibitors will present the range on offer on the global market. \\$quot;Experience Technology Live\\$quot; - according to this motto, it will be possible to see the technological innovations and advances in action. In a form which will be lively, graphic, practical and more comprehensive than anywhere else. For the manufacturers, \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot; is the top international date for new products.

The spectrum on offer at \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot; will encompass the latest devices, machines, materials and installations for welding, cutting, adhesive bonding, brazing/soldering, thermal spraying and heat treatment. Furthermore, the range on display at the fair will include not only industrial robots, data processing, fully mechanised and automated processes as well as testing systems and procedures but also CNC and process control systems, CAD/CAM systems, monitoring facilities, quality assurance, workshop and workplace equipment, safety facilities, database and expert systems as well as health and safety.

Two \\$quot;Special Events\\$quot; Pointing the Way to the Future

With \\$quot;SBI\\$quot; and \\$quot;QTI\\$quot;, \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot; will offer two internationally renowned special forums in which manufacturers and service-providers will, in each case in their own, imposing hall areas, present themselves to the visitors to the fair.

As a special event for suppliers in the field of adhesive-bonding technology, \\$quot;SBI\\$quot; will give its premiere in 2005. For the first time, companies and institutions active in the field of adhesive-bonding technology will have the possibility of presenting themselves in an independent fair segment, of portraying the advantages of adhesive-bonding technology and of winning over new customers in a targeted way.
Another special area will be the special event \\$quot;QTI - Quality Testing International\\$quot; which already gave its successful premiere at the last \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot;. \\$quot;QTI\\$quot; will offer an international platform on which especially manufacturers and service-providers from the fields of measurement technology, quality assurance and materials testing will be able to establish worldwide customer contacts in their own hall area. Deutscher Verband für Schweissen und verwandte Verfahren (DVS - the \\$quot;German Society for Welding and Allied Processes\\$quot;) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung (DGZfP - the \\$quot;German Society for Non-Destructive Testing\\$quot;) will provide expert support for \\$quot;QTI\\$quot;.

Innovation Forum of Forschungsvereinigung des DVS

Also during the international trade fair, Forschungsvereinigung Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e.V. des DVS (the \\$quot;Research Association for Welding and Allied Processes of DVS\\$quot;) will stage an Innovation Forum within the framework of which 30 research institutes will present the latest results from the cooperative research in joining technology. The presentations will feature the latest developments from the fields of arc and beam welding processes, brazing/soldering, thermal coating, microjoining technology as well as the calculation, strength and design of welded structures. Within the framework of a daily programme of lectures, specialists and visitors interested in technology will have the possibility of holding discussions with users from industry and with the researchers. Furthermore, a number of highly interesting exhibits from the institutes will be awaiting the specialists and visitors on the booth area of the forum; for example, it is planned to present (amongst other items) space frames from modern bodymaking. The processes of remote welding using a welding-arm robot as well as the process of hybrid laser welding using a diode-laser box are to be demonstrated in addition.

Not only representatives from industry but also members of parliament and representatives from the federal-state and national ministries are expected. The programme will be rounded off by discussions with American researchers (\\$quot;Meet American Scientists\\$quot;).

Historic Exhibits Relating to Welding Technology

After 2001, it will once again be possible to see historic exhibits relating to welding technology in 2005 as well within the framework of a special show during the international trade fair \\$quot;Schweissen & Schneiden\\$quot;. The exhibits will originate from the DVS stock which currently comprises around 800 exhibits from the soldering lamp to the welding power source. The exhibition will be organised and designed by the DVS working group \\$quot;History of Welding Technology\\$quot;. In direct comparison with the topical happenings at the fair, the exhibition will illustrate what an enormous leap in development welding and the allied processes have made in the past decades.
