SIAD Healthcare has recently revealed the signing of a distribution agreement with French company EndoControl, strengthening its presence in the minimally-invasive surgery market arena.
The deal also positions SIAD Healthcare at the forefront of the introduction of high-tech equipment into the medical field.
EndoControl® is a relatively young company, though highly skilled in the development of integrated systems for robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery.
The ViKi® system is the result of six years’ research and prototype development in collaboration with Grenoble University, now set for widescale distribution through the new deal.
The ViKi® System is made up of a console with software which analyses the surgeon’s instructions and activates motors, a passive arm fixed to the rail of the operating table and a motorised tower positioned just above the patient’s abdomen, as well as control interfaces.
Its ‘plug and play’ system makes set-up easy for cleaning and sterilising, while the products portability increases its user-friendly nature. Increased stability and quality of the endoscopic image, coupled with increased precision and surgical reproducibility are also advantageous features of the device.
SIAD Healthcare had released a number of innovative products this summer, as July saw the EndoBag Disposable Specimen Retrieval Bag complete its range of laparoscopy product portfolio.
The EndoBag Disposable Specimen Retrieval Bag is an easy-to-use retrieval system designed to temporarily contain specimen and facilitate its removal from the patient during laparoscopic surgery.
Before that in June, the company announced the launch of the ROI-A ALIF cage by LDR Médical enhancing the range of spine surgery products the company offers.
And as summer 2008 began, SIAD Healthcare S.p.a. and Misonix, Inc. announced a new three year exclusive distribution and service agreement for the distribution of a number of new products.
Misonix Inc. is a developer of minimally invasive ultrasonic medical device technology and the agreement saw the distribution of the FS1000RF Ultrasonic Surgical Aspiration System, the BoneScalpel Ultrasonic Bone Cutting System, and the SonicOne Ultrasonic Wound Care System.
The agreement provides SIAD Healthcare with the right to sell in Italy and includes minimum purchase requirements.
Societa' Italiana Acetilene & Derivati (SIAD) S.p.A. was founded in Bergamo in 1927 and since then, SIAD has concentrated it efforts on research, in collaboration with main university centres, in order to develop and offer more and more efficient and innovative uses and applications for industrial gases.
The company and its focus were further strengthened thanks to an agreement reached in 1989 with US multinational Praxair.
SIAD operates through a number of divisions and partners, offering packaged gases, specialty gases, systems and equipment, vessels and containers to industries such as automotive, chemical, electronics assembly, food and beverage, glass, and healthcare.
