Specialty Oxygen Service Ltd (SOS), a medical accessory provider, is now fully licensed to manufacture and distribute medical gases.
After a lengthy research and development project, the UK-based business was granted the MIA Manufacturers and Importers licence under the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
SOS will now specialise in the manufacture and supply of medicinal gases such as oxygen (O2) and OxynoxTM, a 50:50 mixture of medical O2 and nitrous oxide, from its new centralised base in Appley Bridge, Lancashire.
Director Jon Power said, “We are now perfectly positioned to maintain our current customer base, streamline our business and grow our niche service.”
The licence will run in conjunction with its current Wholesalers and Distributors Authorisation (WDA).
SOS was initially formed in 1971 to supply emergency medical gases predominantly to dental establishments around the London Borough areas.
In our 3rd quarter 2016 issue, we visited medical gases from the viewpoint of sales potential by discussing the end-use applications our gases served. In this article, I want to address medical gases, and more specifically medical device mixtures from the manufacturer’s viewpoint.
