Adding value to oil services – Industrial gas utilisation

0

All of the major industrial gas companies proudly claim a long history of involvement in the business of oil recovery.

All engineering activities such as those provided by the oilfield services industry are dependent on reliable supplies of industrial gases. Manufacture of the machinery and equipment used in oilfields, both on land and undersea, certainly consumes welding gases and gases are also critically necessary in the maintenance and repair of equipment in the field.

The contribution of industrial gas companies in the process of recovering oil and gas by extending the productive life of reservoirs and in upgrading or purifying contaminated
hydrocarbon products, is where they are seen to have added the greatest value in the past. Air separation plants were first required to supply nitrogen for secondary gas injection, followed by nitrogen rejection units for upgrading produced natural gas.

The Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) World Congress planned to take place later this year is billed as, ‘Where National Oil Companies, International Oil Companies and Oilfield Service Companies discuss how to deploy the latest EOR techniques to maximise production.’
