Air Products has awarded $25,000 in scholarships to Excellent Students of Three East China Universities as part of ongoing efforts to grow the talent pool for Coal Gasification, Clean Energy and New Materials Markets.
The scholarship presentation ceremony took place on the 15th of April, concurrent with Air Products’ University Student Experience Day in its Asia Technology Center located in Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park. During the “Gas Science Inspires the Future” themed event, around 40 participating students and teachers learned how innovation and leading-edge gas technologies and applications can contribute to building a better future especially on addressing environmental challenges by reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency and increasing productivity.
“China is a strategic and high-growth market for Air Products and talent management is a vital ingredient in our strategy to accelerate our growth and support the country’s sustainable development. The university scholarship program is a part of our continuous investment to nurture talents and future leaders through education for the industry and community to help realize the China Dream,” said Saw Choon Seong, Vice President and General Manager, Asia Merchant Gases at Air Products.
So far this year, fifty university students in China have received Air Products Scholarships. Among them, thirty are pursuing bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and PhD at East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University in East China. They mainly major in Chemical Engineering, Resources & Environmental Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical and Energy, Materials Science & Engineering and Thermal Power Engineering. Launched in 2008, Air Products scholarships are granted to exceptional university students based on their overall performance, academic achievement, innovation and financial need. In the past six years, more than 330 students at nearly 10 leading universities across China have benefited from Air Products’ scholarships totaling over RMB1.5m.
