African Gases Conference comes to a close

0

The 2010 African Gases Conference is drawing to a close, as delegates prepare for the cultural evening send-off we reflect on ‘the best audience yet’.
Prior to closing, gasworld delegates, speakers and sponsors alike congregated for two final presentations at the Safari Park Hotel’s Bougainville Room.
After a fruitful two sessions of high-profile presentations, Keith Stewart from Herose and recently inaugurated ‘gasworld globetrotter’ took to the speakers table to address the importance of cryogenic safety valves. In keeping with the session theme; ‘Safety in our business’, South African Compressed Gases Association’s Albert Spencer, won a warm reception from the crowd after discussing the potential expansion of the SACGA.
Indeed, it seemed fitting that both reiterated a sentiment shared by most speakers. Namely, that once logistical obstacles are overcome, Africa will realise its potential. But before guests retired to prepare for the Cultural Evening send-off, courtesy of BOC Kenya, John Raquet, Managing Director and Founder of gasworld offered his thanks and thoughts on the company’s 6th international conference.
He remarked, “Ladies and gentlemen, first of all I am pretty surprised to be standing here, wondering what happened over the last two days, which seem to have gone by so quickly. First of all, I would like to thank all the delegates for their participation, I think you are the best audience we have had over the six conferences we have held.”
“I believe we have had a pretty relaxed two days, I think it’s been a very positive meeting, people seem to have met new people, new contacts, new friends. The aim of the gasworld conference is very simply to bring the gases community together in each region that we bring the gases conference to. I think we have been very successful and achieved this, and believe that our moto ‘discuss, debate, converse’ stands.”
Raquet concluded, “Our next intention is to roll this conference forward, in two years time to West Africa, another dynamic, exciting area. And I hope to see many of you there, in two years time.”
