Air Liquide and LOTTE Chemical strengthen hydrogen cooperation


Air Liquide and LOTTE Chemical are expanding their hydrogen business to further cooperate in the ammonia decomposition, liquified hydrogen, and hydrogen shipping markets in Yeosu, South Korea.

Under terms of a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the duo will explore clean ammonia imported from overseas to produce hydrogen for power generation and mobility.

Plans also include the expansion of the LOTTE-Air Liquide Ener’Hy joint venture, to include a focus on liquefied hydrogen as well as gaseous hydrogen.

LOTTE-Air Liquide Ener’Hy was established in December 2022. As a first project, the joint venture will develop a shipping centre using by-product hydrogen at a site within LOTTE Chemical’s Daesan plant. Start-up is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
