Air Liquide, Groupe ADP joint venture to support hydrogen aviation

Decarbonised air transportation is at the heart of a new joint venture unveiled today (15th June) between Air Liquide and Groupe ADP that looks to support airports across the globe transition to hydrogen.

The 50:50 joint venture build off the duo’s already withstanding commitments within the aviation industry as it looks to support the first hydrogen-powered commercial aircrafts that are expected to take flight by 2035.

In order to support the clean transition, the firms will identify and tackle the current challenges that are being faced when it comes to hydrogen flights. To do this, the joint venture hopes to estimate the volume of hydrogen required for the shift and support the creation of an optimal hydrogen supply chain.

A number of studies and assessments, that look at costs, required investment, safety and carbon impact, will also be carried out by Air Liquide and Groupe ADP as part of the extended collaboration.
