Air Liquide inaugurates first hydrogen refuelling station in Belgium

Air Liquide inaugurated the first publicly-available hydrogen (H2) refuelling station in Zaventem, Belgium, today, introducing the possibility of using H2 as a clean energy throughout the country.

The industrial gas corporation produces the H2 used at the station via electrolysis, on account of its zero-emission properties. The site is capable of refilling between 30-40 vehicles a day, with each refill taking less than five minutes to complete and providing fuel cell users approximately 500km of driving distance.

The Tier One player has already commissioned several other public H2 refuelling stations throughout Europe, namely in the Netherlands, Germany and France, with other stations being deployed in US and Japan – but this is a the first one in Belgium.
