Air Products secures Al-Jubail ASU contract


Further to the news that Samsung Engineering had been awarded a contract for an ASU in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia, Air Products has revealed that it has also secured a contract to work on the $300m project.

As covered by gasworld magazine, it had initially been reported that Samsung Engineering would be involved in the project for National Industrial Gases Company (NIGC) – a subsidiary of Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC).

However, it is also now known that Air Products secured a contract with NIGC and will be working with Samsung Engineering to supply an ASU capable of producing up to 3,550 tonnes per day (tpd) of oxygen, 3,600 tpd of nitrogen and 150 tpd of argon.

The company explained in a statement that the ASU is expected to be on-stream in 2011.
