Last week, Air Products released details of a new supply contract with Samsung in Korea. According to terms, Air Products will provide gaseous nitrogen, oxygen and argon to Samsung Mobile Display’s (SMD) latest Active-matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode plant, located in Tanjeong, Korea.
Air Products plans to build a new air separation unit (ASU) and pipeline at the Tanjeong site. In addition, the North American industrial gases provider will supply gaseous nitrogen as well as other bulk gases via pipeline to SMD’s two large-scale TFT-LCD facilities in Cheonan.
Corning Painter, Vice President and General Manager of the Electronics Division at Air Products, commented, “We are honoured to extend our relationship with Samsung and be involved with such an important customer whose new plant will utilize this new technology. This contract is an excellent example of our capability to serve the world’s largest electronics customers with our infrastructure, technology advancements and product capacity in place.”
Samsung Mobile Display constitutes a joint venture between Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd and Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. The project is a global leader in next-generation small and medium displays.
