Air Products to supply cryogenic heat exchangers to Algerian LNG project


Air Products has today said it will provide four of its MCR® Main Cryogenic Heat Exchangers (MCHEs) to Sonatrach’s GL1Z LNG facility in Arzew, Algeria.

To be built by Air Products at its Port Manatee, Florida manufacturing facility, the four exchangers will each boast a 1.3m per year production capacity.

The MCHEs will be installed at the heart of the proprietary AP-C3MR™ propane pre-cooled mixed refrigerant liquefaction process at the multi-train facility, replacing the four previous heat exchangers that were supplied by Air Products in the late 1970s.

Dr. Samir Serhan, Chief Operation Officer at Air Products, said, “This is a very significant contract for Air Products to have won with a very important customer, Sonatrach, who has been a valuable custom of ours for many years.”
