Atlas Copco acquires MedCore Services

Atlas Copco has acquired the operating assets of medical gas service provider MedCore Services.

Based in Toronto, Canada, MedCore services piped medical gas equipment, including medical air systems, vacuum systems, and pipeline equipment for public healthcare and private clinics in Canada.

The company has seven employees and generated revenues of approximately C$1.5m in 2021.

Vagner Rego, Business Area President of Compressor Technique at Atlas Copco, said the purchase will allow Atlas Copco to strengthen its position as a supplier of medical gas solutions in Canada.

MedCore will become part of the Medical Gas Solutions Division within the Compressor Technique Business Area. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The deal is just the latest of several recent relatively small acquisitions by Atlas Copco in North America. In November last year, it acquired Montana Instruments Corporation, which provides cryostat solutions for customers involved in physics research and low temperature technology solutions. A cryostat is a system used to cool an object to very low temperature and enable measurement of various properties.

In the same month it also completed on its purchase of New York-based Northeast Compressor, which sells air compressors, related equipment and services to a broad range of industrial customers in the upstate area. As a result of the transaction, six Northeast Compressor employees joined Atlas Copco.
