Australian firm plans 300MW green ammonia plant in Kenya

Australian hydrogen project developer Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) has plans to develop a 300 megawatts (MW) green ammonia and fertiliser plant in Kenya. The company eventually hopes to export up to 1.7mn t/yr of renewable hydrogen from the country.

The company’s plans are at an advanced stage and will be the country’s first project involving green ammonia production.

The project will boost the East African nation’s expanding clean energy production to meet peak energy demand and reduce the import bill for fertilisers.
