North Carolina-based gas producer and distributor American Welding & Gas (AWG) has acquired Suncoast Welding Supplies, a Florida-based welding equipment and supplies business.

Suncoast Welding Supplies will strengthen AWG’s gases, welding products, and related services offerings in the Southeast region of the US.

James “Jim” Johnson, the son of the original founders of Suncoast Welding Supplies, said the company is proud to pass the torch to AWG.

“I have complete confidence in AWG’s ability to carry forward the legacy we built,” he added. “I’m excited to see how AWG will continue to grow and serve the community with the same passion and care.”

Justin McDowell, Senior Vice-President of the Southeast at AWG, said he’s excited to carry forward the legacy the Johnson family created while expanding opportunities for customers and team members.

The acquisition marks AWG’s second in a month. At the end of July, the company entered Utah for the first time with the acquisition of First Call Propane.
