Baker Hughes wins equipment supply contract for BP Tangguh LNG
Energy technology company Baker Hughes has secured a long-term equipment supply agreement from BP for its Tangguh LNG plant in Indonesia.
The 90-month agreement covers spare parts, repair services, and field service engineering support for critical turbomachinery at the facility including heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors for three LNG trains.
Baker Hughes’ involvement with the project stretches back to 2009, and most recently it was awarded a contract to supply additional critical power and compression systems for the Tangguh compression project last year.
The Tangguh LNG facility, billed as a cornerstone of Indonesia’s energy strategy, has suffered from delays following the Covid-19 pandemic and workforce disruptions.
Baker Hughes is collaborating with PT Imeco Inter Sarana as its local consortium partner.
The company is increasingly active in the LNG sector, securing a turbines contract with Commonwealth LNG this week. It announced a $13.6bn takeover of US green techs business Chart Industries at the end of July.
The Indonesia gas market grew 3.1% last year to $626m and features 112 production facilities, according to gasworld Intelligence.
