Borouge awards ethane cracker contract to The Linde Group


Borouge, a leading provider of plastics solutions, has awarded The Linde Group with a contract to build an ethane cracker at its production site in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Borouge is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Borealis, a leading provider of chemical and innovative plastics solutions.

Under the $1.075bn contract, The Linde Group will build another 1.5 million tonnes per year (tpy) ethane cracker for Borouge, adding to the two existing units it has already installed for the company.

Abdulaziz Alhajri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge) said, $quot;The awarding of this contract confirms Borouge’s commitment to the Borouge 3 project, a major expansion of our production facility in Ruwais, which will increase the total capacity of the plant to 4.5 million tonnes of polyolefins annually by the end of 2013.$quot;
