Burckhardt overhauls LNG carrier compressor on transatlantic voyage


A liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier owned by one of the world’s largest LNG carrier operators has been successfully overhauled by compressor specialists Burckhardt Compression (Burckhardt).

The procedure took place mid-voyage between Europe and North America, presenting Burkhardt with a unique challenge.

The specific compressor that required maintenance was the company’s Laby-GI 5LP250, considered by the company as an efficient and flexible solution for LNG carriers.

Speaking about the operation, the unnamed customer released a statement, saying, “Burckhardt has overhauled the compressor system within the proposed boundaries of the voyage.”
