Carbon Clean and Modec team up on offshore carbon capture

UK-headquartered point-source carbon capture business Carbon Clean and offshore floating provider Modec have signed an agreement to develop and scale Carbon Clean’s CycloneCC carbon capture technology for offshore applications.

The collaboration will accelerate progress toward the deployment of a fully commercialised CycloneCC solution designed for Modec’s floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels. A pilot plant is targeted for installation on an FPSO in 2026.

This will be followed by the first commercial-scale deployment, targeting capture of up 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

A further scale-up will integrate CycloneCC into the FPSO design to achieve full decarbonisation, with the capacity to capture approximately 300,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
