Climeworks and Deep Sky form DAC+S partnership in Canada

Carbon dioxide (CO2) removal specialists Climeworks and Deep Sky have joined forces to assess the development of large-scale direct air capture and storage (DAC+S) projects in Canada.

Anchored by a non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the partnership envisions the development of several DAC+S projects with a pathway to removing up to one million tonnes of CO2.

The partnership hopes to install the first DAC capacity before 2030.

As one of Canada’s leading carbon removal technology specialists, Deep Sky will work with Climeworks to deploy its proven technology in Canada. Climeworks is believed to be the world’s first, and currently only, carbon removal company to operate a large-scale commercial DAC+S facility that verifiably removes CO2 from the air.
