Construction of Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field begins


A consortium of Japanese companies have started construction on a large-scale hydrogen (H2) energy system in Namie-cho, Fukushima Prefecture.

Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field (FH2R) will operate a 10,000kW class H2 production facility that will start operation in 2020 after final tests to verify the technologies.

Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO), Toshiba Energy System & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba ESS), Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and Iwatani Corporation will continue to contribute to realise a H2 economy.
