As part of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative, Den Hartogh Logistics has started a project to use biodiesel in a number of its trucks which operate out of the Rotterdam area.
As a transporter of gas and liquid product, Den Hartogh Logistics is determined to positively support the further sustainaility of freight transport and develop its knowledge of the use of alternative fuels.
June 2009 saw the company sign a Letter of Intent to operate five trucks for a two year period on biodiesel.
Biodiesel B30, a mix of 30% FAME biodiesel and 70% mineral diesel will be used for this project. This is made from waste frying oil, which forms no competition with food and is expected to achieve a CO2 reduction of around 24%.
