Situated on the premises of Nippon Aerosil in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Evonik Monosilane Japan has completed construction of a new silane plant and inaugurated operations.
A subsidiary of German chemical producer Evonik Industries, the investment by Evonik Monosilane Japan comes in at around ¥20bn and was completed on 3rd June.
The plant will produce around 1000 tons of silane per year and the company plans to establish sales centres throughout Asia – the focal point of demand for silane. In fact, The Gas Review (TGR) estimates that the demand for silane in Asia for 2011 should be up by more than 5% over the previous year, amounting to 2,900 tons.
The Evonik Group is constructing a silane plant in Rheinfelden, Germany and Evonik has signed a long-term, 10-year supply contract with Taiyo Nippon Sanso under which the amount produced will be sold to the Japanses Tier One gases company.
