The Global CCS Institute has welcomed calls from G7 leaders to scale up carbon capture and storage (CCS) globally following the recent release of a communique calling for the large-scale deployment of CCS technologies.
In the statement, the G7 highlights the need to expand carbon dioxide (CO2) storage and transport infrastructure to accelerate decarbonisation efforts form industry.
Hubs were considered by the ministers as a tool to drive further CCS deployment.
To create incentives for CO2 utilisation and to increase the important export of CO2, the G7 has also pledged to work collaboratively with partners.
